CHICAGO - Once again, Antti Raanta filled in flawlessly for Corey Crawford. Adam Lowry Jersey .Raanta made 32 saves to earn a shutout in his first start of the season, and Patrick Kane scored two power-play goals to lead the Chicago Blackhawks past the Philadelphia Flyers 4-0 on Tuesday night.Raanta was sharp as he subbed for Crawford — Chicagos No. 1 goalie who is out day-to-day with an upper-body injury — to record his second career shutout. Among his saves were two point-blank stops on Philadelphias Claude Giroux and one on Matt Read late in the second periodI found out this morning, Raanta said regarding his start. Youre always ready when you come to the rink.Coming up big when Crawford gets hurt is nothing new for Raanta. The 25-year-old Finn started 10 games in a row last season after Crawford suffered a groin injury in a Dec. 8 game against Florida. The Blackhawks went 7-1-2 during that stretch. He was real solid, square, confident, Chicago coach Joel Quenneville said. He was definitely in control tonight.Chicagos Brandon Saad and Bryan Bickell scored along with Kane in a 2:06 flurry late in the first period to stake the Blackhawks and Raanta to an early lead.We have struggled a little bit with goal scoring, so it was good to see that guys were shooting a lot and we got nice goals in the first period, Raanta said. It helped of course.Besides their first goals this season, Saad and Bickell each had assists as Chicagos third line, centred by Brad Richards, clicked and the Blackhawks improved to 4-0-1. Richards, who signed as a free agent last summer following a contract buyout by the New York Rangers, set up Saads goal to earn his first point as a Blackhawk. The Richards and Saad line tonight was very good for us, Quenneville said. When we get rolling in all the lines, we get that predictability and familiarity. Hopefully, we get that pace.Philadelphias Steve Mason made 39 saves. He was back in net for his fifth start in six games despite being pulled after two periods in the Flyers come-from-behind 6-5 overtime win at Dallas on Saturday — their only victory.Mason might have been the Flyers best player in this one, especially in the first period when Chicago dominated. We had a horrible start, Flyers defenceman Mark Streit said. Mase was pretty much the only guy out there playing his game. Its just not acceptable having a start like that, and if you do youre going to get punished. The Blackhawks came out strong for the third straight game. Chicago outshot Philadelphia 19-9 in the first and connected on three of five shots during a flurry late in the period. You cant stand there and watch them pass the puck around and skate, especially a team like that, Flyers coach Craig Berube said. We were like deer in the headlights in the first period.Saad opened the scoring 11:54 in. Mason made flashy, close-in saves on Saad and Richards, but then Saad outmuscled the Flyers Michael Del Zotto to the net and tucked in a loose puck from the goal line after Richards centred it.Kane made it 2-0 with a power-play score 32 seconds later. He swatted in the puck from the left side of the net after Patrick Sharps shot from the blue line caromed off the back boards.Bickell extended the lead to 3-0 with 6:00 left in the period when he motored down the slot and ripped a shot over Masons shoulder.Raanta was most heavily tested in the second period when he turned aside 10 shots, and late in the third during a Flyers power play.Kane added his second power-play goal from a goalmouth scrum at 3:50 of the third to complete the scoring.Raanta came up with a shoulder save on Jakub Voracek with 6:30 left to preserve the shutout.NOTES: Chicago LW Kris Versteeg returned after suffering a lower body injury in practice two days before the season opener. He skated on a line with Kane and C Andrew Shaw. To make room, F Jeremy Morin sat out. ... The Blackhawks recalled G Scott Darling from Rockford of the AHL to fill Crawfords roster spot. Darling is a native of Lemont, Ill., a Chicago suburb. ... Flyers C Vincent Lecavalier missed his third game and D Braydon Coburn sat out his fifth, both with lower-body injuries. Teemu Selanne Jersey . "I only want to go through this one more time," Crosby said Friday. The 24-year-old captain hasnt played since the symptoms resurfaced following a loss to Boston on Dec. 5. Doctors allowed him to return to full practice on Tuesday and while Crosby is pleased with the way his body is responding he refuses to put on his return. Connor Hellebuyck Jersey . Messis father, Jorge Horacio Messi, is apparently still under investigation for an alleged 4 million euros ($5.3 million) in unpaid taxes from Messis image rights from 2007-09. Messis public relations firm confirmed Spanish media reports that the state prosecutor has asked for Messi to be dropped from the investigation that began in June 2013. http://www.jetsauthentic.com/authentic-josh-morrissey-jets-jersey/ . PETERSBURG, Fla. WASHINGTON -- With Washington off to a 2-5 start, coach Adam Oates made some changes before the Capitals game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday night. Martin Erat wasted little time in making the adjustments pay off. The right wing, moved from the fourth line to the second, assisted on three Washington goals and Braden Holtby made 37 saves in the Capitals 4-1 win. Erat helped out on goals by new linemates Troy Brouwer and Brooks Laich, as well as on a power-play tally by Alex Ovechkin. "He was flying tonight," Ovechkin said of Erat. "He was the best player on the ice for us tonight. He shows who he is." Joel Ward opened the scoring with a power-play goal for the Capitals, who snapped a two-game skid and finished their five-game homestand 2-3. Coming off a 2-0 shutout Thursday against the Rangers, Oates dropped Mikhail Grabovski from the second line to the third and Eric Fehr from the third line to a part-time role on the fourth. Laich centred the second line, with Erat moving onto that group. "You know what, Martys a good hockey player, has been in this league," Oates said of Erat, a veteran who was acquired last year from Nashville but began the season on the fourth line and was scoreless coming in. "We lost a couple in a row, we had to make some changes, and he stepped in there and played great for us." Erat began play with 53 points in 57 regular-season games against Columbus, his highest point total against any team, and continued to punish the Blue Jackets. Afterward, he preferred to discuss the win rather than his increased ice time and performance. "Its nice to have a good game, but in the end its all about the wins, and we got the win and that is the bottom line," he said. Artem Anisimov spoiled Holtbys shutout at 15:05 of the third. "You can see how we play when he is on fire," Ovechkin said of Holtby. "We have a lot of confidence, especially when he makes a big save and we can see he feels the puck." Sergei Bobrovsky had 35 saves for the Blue Jackets, who have lost four straight. "We unraveled," Columbus coach Todd Richards said. "I think even after those first two goals, we sttarted to go after them, but we werent good enough. Jack Roslovic Jersey. We got what we deserved. I think the chances were there." Washington went up 1-0 early in the second period thanks to its top-ranked power play. With the Blue Jackets Brandon Dubinsky off for tripping, Marcus Johansson made a nice pass in front to Ward, who one-timed it past Bobrovsky for his second goal of the year. Columbus peppered Holtby for several minutes to no avail. Then Washingtons Steve Olesky came down the right side and made a nice delaying move to get his shot off. Bobrovsky made the stop, but Laich shovelled the rebound home to make it 2-0 at the 7:43. Washington added some insurance in the third when Erat stole a pass in the Columbus zone and fed Brouwer in front. Bobrovsky made a point-blank save, but Brouwer got the rebound, moved to his right and put the puck past the fallen goaltender at 4:20. "They got that third (goal) and it just cracked us, I guess," Blue Jackets RJ Umberger said. "We turned the puck over. They capitalized on their chances tonight and we didnt." Just over two minutes later, with Washington on a power play, Ovechkin beat Bobrovsky with a one-timer from his familiar spot in the left circle for his seventh goal of the season. "As far as the third period, were letting each other down as far as our play in front of our goalie," Richards said. "Disappointing the way the game ended." The Capitals controlled play for much of a scoreless first period, when Bobrovsky made 14 saves. Columbus had an excellent chance when Ryan Johansen picked up a loose puck in the Washington zone midway through the period. He skated in alone on Holtby, but his shot hit the right post. NOTES: The Blue Jackets recalled F Jack Skille from the AHLs Springfield Falcons and assigned F Sean Collins to their AHL affiliate. ... Washington D John Erskine missed his fourth game (upper body injury) and C Jay Beagle was a healthy scratch. ... LW Nick Foligno, C Ryan Craig, and D Dalton Prout were the Columbus scratches. ... It was the teams first meeting since Dec. 31, 2011. Theyll play each other three more times this season as members of the Metropolitan Division. ' ' '
